We are looking for an Insurance Lawyer / Expert Legal Counsel (m/f/d) based either in Munich, Hamburg, Cologne or Frankfurt.

The Impact You Will Have
You will assist the Regional Head L&C CRMO 1 / Head of Insurance Law in the design, implementation and maintenance of an insurance law organisation within the Legal function and support the coordination of the insurance law activities at Allianz Commercial globally. You will help setting the overall philosophy and strategy of the organization regarding matters of insurance and supervisory law and ensuring that all practices, policies, and business activities of the organization fall within the bounds of the organization's legal posture. Moreover you will provide advice and counsel to executives and line managers concerning the laws that impact their functional areas and oversee the preparation of legal documents.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

• Provide legal support, guidance and advice to Allianz Commercial & Allianz Commercial management, global functions, local offices and local Allianz P&C MidCorp organizational entities, including the analysis of legal queries, development, evaluation of solutions and written or oral presentation to client with a special focus on insurance and reinsurance law (all lines of business) and commercial law.
• Analyse, review and draft contracts and other legal documents from various jurisdictions, in particular insurance and reinsurance wordings across all lines of business and other types of commercial agreements and service contracts including contract negotiation with internal and external clients.
• Maintain and adjust the legal, regulatory and compliance framework and processes of Allianz Commercial in order to meet the legal, regulatory and internal requirements.
• Support the Allianz Commercial Licensing Expert team in respect of legal updates of ILG content and data with view to Allianz Commercial Large Corp and Allianz MidCorp business.
• Coordinate company position with regards to all insurance law and ancillary legal issues and contract matters.
• Build up in-house knowledge on insurance and general contract law and share across the business.
• Develop functional guidance on selected legal and regulatory topics affecting Allianz Commercial and its business worldwide.
• Organize, develop content and perform trainings for selected legal topics for Allianz Commercial & Allianz Commercial management, global functions, local offices and selected Allianz P&C MidCorp organizational entities worldwide.
• Coordinate the use of external law firms on matters of insurance law and reduce the amount of fees spent on those mandates while increasing or maintaining the level of quality.
  

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• German Law degree - Fully trained lawyer (Volljurist)
• Excellent knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to the company
• 7 to 10 years of professional experience in insurance law preferably in the insurance industry or international law firm
• Proven experience of working internationally and remotely across numerous locations ideally within a complex matrix organization
• Good understanding of the insurance business, ideally Allianz Commercial. Preferably background in business related functions, such as Claims or Underwriting
• Solid ability to comprehend business issues, identify legal issues in business transactions, and provide legal practical recommendations and business considerations
• Ability to anticipate potential legal issues which may affect multiple clients or have multi-legal specialty implications
• Expert knowledge of and practical experience with German/British and/or any other EU (re)insurance, corporate and regulatory law across multiple lines of business and areas (underwriting, claims, reinsurance, broker relations)
• Excellent time management, communications, decision-making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills
• Strong business acumen and client service mentality
• Ability to build and maintain relationships across various lines of business and with external cooperation partners    
• Autonomous way of working
• Fluent in spoken and written German and English
